National pet awareness month

Let’s celebrate! November is a national pet awareness month and it’s the best time of the year to put our focus and attention on our lovely dogs and cats. Let’s treat them extra special and get them groomed and feeling great! Also make sure your sweet dogs are all caught up on their vaccinations, too, as this is that time of year!

Part of being a responsible dog owner is making sure your pet feels like they are part of your family. Some great ways to do this is to make sure they have their ID tag on at all times in case they get lost, feed them a healthy dog food diet, exercise them daily and train them so they do not get into dangerous situations like running into the street.

Another important way to care for your pet is to get them Spay/Neutered. This is a sensitive subject for a lot of people, but it is highly beneficial to your pet and the pet population. Did you know more than 75,000 dogs and cats are born every day? Imagine these sweet pups and kittens not having a place to call home. It’s sad to think about, but it is true and a lot of these innocent babies end up in shelters. Please know that pets that are spay/neutered live longer healthier lives and decreases their chances of certain cancers forming.

There are people all around the country that dedicate their time to helping animals in a variety of different ways, including finding forever homes. Volunteerism is on the rise and spending your day filled listening to the pitter-patter of tiny paws is a great way to give back.

There are a lot of shelters and organizations around your community that will happily accept your invitation to join their team of volunteers. There are many different duties you can assist with and the added benefit of spending time giving an extra hug or playing with their favorite toys will definitely make every dog or cats day extra special.

Getting involved in rescues and nursing a sweet soul back to health is an amazing selfless act that is rewarding beyond words. The pride that volunteers have in their hearts is so incredible. Just think how proud you will feel when you are able to find a forever home for them. Your heart will be filled with joy knowing you have helped make a dog or cat find their happily ever after.

Here we routinely take in animals and help provide them with forever homes. We are especially proud of our foundation that works in conjunction with the center and assists low income pet owners by matching funds for the care of pets when needed.

Enjoy celebrating National pet awareness month and make every day a happy one for your pet and all of those around the world. Give our animal friends the extra attention they crave and volunteer your time to help a local shelter or rescue organization today!
