PUPPIES FOR SALE – Bringing your newly purchased puppy home

18-01-2015_10-41-09If you’ve decided to purchase a puppy, take your time in choosing the right one. If there is only one litter available in your neighbourhood, your choice will be much easier, if there are a variety of dogs for sale, you will have to do some research. Be sure you know the adult size and temperament of the breed you are looking at, so you can be sure the dog will be a good fit for your family in the long term.

Place your puppy in a secure carrier for the trip home. Avoid putting it in a cardboard box, as it may escape while you are driving. Cardboard boxes also aren’t well ventilated. Ideally use a carrier that has a seatbelt strap, so the carrier will stay secure even if the car hits a hard bump.

When you first arrive home, give your puppy time to adjust to its surroundings. Have its bed, and food and water set up before you arrive. Take the puppy there and show it its new things. The puppy may want to play with you, and this is fine, but don’t exhaust it. Moving to a new home is stressful for a puppy, and too much stress might make it vulnerable to disease.

If the puppy has just been weaned from its mother, expect some whining and crying the first few nights in the new home. The puppy doesn’t understand where its mother is, and why it’s not in the place it has always regarded as home. Placing a hot water bottle under a blanket for the puppy to cuddle up to, and placing a ticking clock nearby might help. This will simulate the warmth and heart beat of the mother dog.

If you don’t want your puppy to sleep in your room, do not give in and move it there just because it is whining the first few nights.

Depending on the breeder, when they advertised the puppies for sale, they may have also advertised that the puppies were started on housetraining, or had their first vaccinations. You likely also asked about this when you went to view the puppies. Even if the puppy was well housetrained, expect a few accidents early on because the puppy may forget its training when it experiences the major life change of moving.

Finding a puppy for sale can be a fun endeavour, and ensuring that the puppy is gently transitioned to its new home will ensure it starts off its new life on the right foot. By keeping your puppy’s move as stress free as possible, your puppy will be able to start to view you as the leader of its pack. You will be responsible for the puppy’s every need, such as food and water, so it will learn to trust you. It should also be well socialized with other family members and friends as it grows into a wonderful dog.

Dog Names

One of the most discussed topics on the internet today is bothered on dog names. The reason for this is that dog names are fun. They are so much fun to choose and discuss. It does not feel good when someone takes a look at your dog and ask for its name and when you reply they just say that it is not a befitting name for your dog. A dog’s name is expected to be suitable to the dog that is given the name.

cesped

Certain names at dognames.info are suitable for some breeds just as certain names are not suitable for some dogs. A boxer dog will always look like a champ or a butch. The reason for this is not very clear but it is an example of a name that suits some breed of dogs.

Some individuals choose a name for their dog before they ever set their eyes on the dog to be named. This is not very fashionable because the names given to a dog will be influenced by its personality, behavior or by its face. Certain dog names have the feeling of energy or sound. If your dog is an apathetic, slow moving, laid back dog, some names will not be suitable to them, except you want to make a statement.

nombreplantilla

Choosing a name for the dog before seeing it will not work in this case and you may not know this until you have taken the dog home. If your dog is a floppy, goofy type of dog or puppy, then some names will be more suitable.

It is a good idea to ask the opinion of others about what name to give to your dog. When people see pictures of your new dog or come over to see your new dog, find out their opinion of what name will be perfect for your dog.

How to Walk Your Dog Loose-Leashed

Loose-leash walking is not to be confused with the “heel” command. Loose-leash walking is basally just good manners. You control the length of the leash, with your hand in a natural position alongside your body. As soon as the dog gets too far ahead or behind you, there will be tension on the leash, moving your hand out of it’s natural position. This is what we want to prevent. So the goal is that you, as the pack leader, set the pace and the length of the leash, and your dog peacefully walk with you, not interrupting your pace with frequent sniff breaks, or pulling ahead of you creating leash tension, and sometimes emotional tension!

Start practicing loose-leash walking in a distraction-free area, like the living room. As your dog masters Loose-leash walking in that area, introduce her to areas of increasing distractions, like the back yard, then a quiet street, then a busy street, etc. Make sure that she is consistently walking Loose-leash before introducing her to the next level of distractions. This might take a few days, but the patience is worth it. Eventually, with practice, your dog should be able to walk Loose-leashed past even her biggest triggers. For my dog, it’s cats. Many persons are indifferent to pest control and the attendant problems caused by pests and also the pesticides used in their control.

Pests can be of good benefits and on the other hand can be a problem to human beings. Insects, animals and some bacteria are beneficial in a lot of ways and can also become pests. Some pests like flies, mice, cockroaches, fleas, ants and rats are commonly found in apartments and houses. There should be pest control measures, pest prevention and effective pest management to prevent the proliferation of pests in homes.

Fleas are also referred to as cat fleas. They are tiny parasites which feed on the blood of humans and pets. They can lay their eggs in almost everywhere and anywhere they please such as furniture, carpets, beddings, back yards etc. There is a high possibility of the infestation of fleas and their eggs. In order to determine if an animal has fleas, look out for obvious signs of fleas on dogs and the excrements of fleas which are dark specks of curly dots.

Fleas should be immersed immediately in soapy water whenever they are trapped. It is best to administer flea control products throughout the year since they are able to survive better in warm conditions. Continue reading

The History of Horses, Horsepower, and Engines

On Horseback and Horse Drawn

Before the invention of automobiles, horses were a primary mode of transportation. They had a lot of challenges compared to their modern counterparts, as they were noisy, expensive, and caused many accidents, congestion, and pollution. Although horses did not require gasoline, mechanics, and garages, they did require stables, feed, and veterinarians. Moreover, each horse could produce up to 30 pounds of dung every day, which, when multiplied by the hundreds or thousands of horses on streets, translated to an ever-present layer of horse manure. This created an unsightly site, attracted flies, travelled in the wind, clung to shoes, and even seeped into the water supply.

Abandoned automobiles are unpleasant, but consider horse owners who left their feeble horses on the roadside to die. Many of these animals remained there for a while before anyone carted them away. Horses died in other ways as well. As difficult as it may be to comprehend given their low speeds, horse-drawn vehicles were considerably more deadly than their modern counterparts, with accident rates similar or slightly higher to those of motor vehicles in the 20th century. Rabbit Hutch Guide

You can’t keep pets until you love them to bits. And if you love your pets, you just have to make sure that all their needs are catered too and looked after. Like all pets, Rabbits have their own distinct needs and demands. Statistically speaking the domesticated rabbit is the third most popular mammalian pet after dogs and cats. It has become increasingly popular for people who want a pet that requires lower maintenance than a dog or a cat, and is particularly good for those that live in areas which are not suitable for a more active animal like a dog or a cat. Rabbits feed on a particular type of diet that includes vegetables and fruits, and love to move about rather than just being restricted to a stationary position all day long. A very interesting point about Rabbits is that they multiply at an amazingly fast rate. So when buying rabbits as pets, or simply looking after the ones that you already have, all these factors have to be taken into consideration.

Choosing a home (hutch) for a rabbit is a decision that must not be taken easily. As already stated rabbits should not be kept in small cages that limit their movement to the bare minimum. The right hutch is one that suits the size and needs of the rabbit, or rabbits, as well as taking into account the budget, the area it will be kept and the facilities it offers. Rabbits can become a much-loved member of the family and it is important that they are safe, comfortable and clean in their homes.

Of course, there are many other benefits of choosing to rescue an adult dog over getting a puppy from a breeder that you should also consider.

  1. Skip those puppy problems

Sometimes it seems like the only reason puppies are allowed to be as adorable as they are is to make up for the fact that their behavior is downright terrible. These little balls of fluff can really cause a ruckus at all hours. And as they grow, everything in sight can be a chew toy to relieve discomfort from teething.  When you adopt an adult dog, you skip over the hectic puppy period. Plus, they’re still cute all grown-up.

Understanding Dog Food Recalls

9775b38c6f8aa95668c5ba25f8421560

A result of a lot of recent pet food recalls, millions of dog owners are left to experience the daintiness and bewilderment as to the reasons why this incident happened. So many different dog breeds were left sick and worse yet, many more of them even died. And since most canine owners depend on business oriented dog food in order to feed their pets, they are at this point skeptical about which label of food to buy and what type of dog food is safe with regards to dogs. TopDogTips.com provides some great advice in this regard.

Who Can The Consumers Rely on?

Commercial pet foods are already contaminated with dangerous chemicals, including mycotoxins (toxins made by fungi). The FDA in addition to food manufacturers possess authorized several recalls after a defective dog food is available. The FDA and the food company join together to determine the main cause of the problem preventing it from happening again.

5-Tips-for-Choosing-the-Best-Puppy-Food1

Knowledge is always the Power

When it comes to getting the best dog food possible, you need to recognize what to watch out for and what to prevent. Below are some strategies to monitor the food you are giving your dog to ensure its safety:

1. Check the conclusion date on all foods and goodies before feeding the crooks to your dog. Doing so will let you avoid any items which are scheduled to travel badly. While that is a wise consumer action on the part, ironically enough the food could still be poisonous to your animals because of preservatives along with chemicals that are added for style, longevity, and surface. Try shopping organic whenever possible.

2. If the meal or treat is just not yet expired but definitely seems to be stale or has a foul odor, will not feed it to your dog and make contact with the company/manufacturer. There probably isn’t much you can apply in terms to getting your money back again, but by calling the producer in the food themselves, you may be a small section of a larger action to get a recall initiated. Don’t forget, if nobody gripes that nothing gets done.

3. Talk to your vet if the dog shows virtually any symptoms of abnormal or unusual conduct. Early treatment will result in a better chance of full recovery. It’s safe to state that a lot of the dogs and cats which were killed by tainted pet food often have survived had this owners’ brought the crooks to the veterinarian with the first signs involving illness. Take the situation seriously when you sense that you will be dog is having a reaction. Remember, the threat is real and several pets have passed away.

4. To ensure the safety in the food that your canine friend is eating, keep informed in the latest news upon pet food recalls. The simplest way to do this is always to go online and type in “pet food recall”. Read as many articles as possible.

Try to avoid information that’s put out by means of pet food companies themselves. It’s not that this information is definitely not reliable, but consider the fact that these companies will certainly sugarcoat the potential issues of pet food is most beneficial possible.
